A Chihuahua has been placed under the custody of San Diego County Animal Services, and a lady from the Spring Valley may be charged with animal mistreatment after a video purportedly showed her kicking and hitting the dog.
The footage, which was released by Animal Services on Monday, purportedly shows the women kicking the small dog with a wooden plank and enclosing it in a container.
According to officials, a concerned citizen captured the event on camera in a Spring Valley apartment complex parking lot on July 21. The culprit was allegedly observed hitting the dog while residing in her car at the time. On Sunday, the unnamed culprit and the animal were located by officers. She consented to assist with the inquiry.
According to Animal Services Director Vaughn Maurice, this is an obvious illustration of why community vigilance is important. We appreciate the citizen who documented and reported this incident so that we could act quickly to save this cat.
According to officials, the video and other supporting documentation were being sent to the District Attorney’s Office for examination. Additionally, Animal Services had suggested that the suspect be charged with animal cruelty.
