Woman sentenced 10 years for shooting ex-boyfriend in Talmadge neighborhood

On Thursday, a woman who shot and killed her ex-boyfriend in the Talmadge area over five years ago received a ten-year term in state prison.

Nearly four years after Mychael Farve, 33, was shot and killed on September 18, 2020, 29-year-old Sheila Brigitte Camarena was taken into custody at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.

According to the police, Camarena shot Farve during a fight in the 4400 block of Euclid Avenue shortly before 3:30 a.m. Farve and Camarena had previously dated. Less than an hour after the gunshot, Farve passed away in the hospital where he was brought.

In February 2021, a felony warrant was issued for Camarena’s arrest. In the years that followed, police distributed fliers seeking information that led to her capture, stating that she should be regarded as dangerous and armed.

Due to the pending murder warrant, she was taken into custody on July 2, 2024.

Earlier this year, Camarena entered a guilty plea to charges of voluntary manslaughter and personal firearm use.
