Two men arrested in connection with fatal April shooting in El Cajon

Authorities said Monday that two males have been taken into custody in relation to a shooting death that took place in El Cajon three months ago.

The El Cajon Police Department reported that at approximately 9:45 p.m. on April 13, officers were sent to a parking lot in the 1100 block of East Madison Ave. after receiving complaints of gunfire.

They discovered Deandra Bryant, 46, there with gunshot wounds. According to authorities, she was taken to a hospital but passed away soon after.

Investigators discovered that Bryant had gotten into a fight with the two males. According to the department, both guys left the scene after one of the suspects shot Bryant.

Frankie England, age 22, and Dontel Wallace, age 35, were named as the first and second suspects, respectively, and both had a history of felony convictions.

Wallace, who was initially detained on unrelated firearms charges, was arrested on June 11, according to authorities, and England was arrested last Tuesday. Since his arrest, Wallace’s charges have been escalated to murder.

The reason for the shooting was still being looked into.
