On Tuesday morning, a city bus crashed on the 163 expressway in University Heights, injuring two people, one of them critically.
San Diego Fire-Rescue reported that one of the injured was in CPR status and the other was experiencing non-life-threatening trauma after a Metropolitan Transit System bus crashed off the freeway north of Washington Street at approximately 9 a.m. on Tuesday for unspecified reasons.

Crews responded to reports of a bus colliding with the right-hand shoulder on the southbound SR-163 just after 9:02 a.m. At around 9:17 a.m., crews managed to get inside and open the bus door, allowing the driver and passengers to board, according to a department statement.
Two people, one with non-life-threatening injuries and the other in acute condition, were sent to local hospitals.

The California Highway Patrol then took over the situation from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Investigations are still ongoing to determine what caused the accident that stopped the University Avenue onramp to northbound SR-163 until late in the morning.
