On Wednesday, two inhabitants of Cathedral City were arrested in relation to the shooting death of a 13-year-old kid.
Following their arrest in San Diego at approximately 8:10 p.m. Monday, James Ian Carter, 19, and Christian Arturo Ilde Milward, 18, were taken to Riverside County and charged with murder, conspiracy to conduct a felony, and gang membership, according to the police.
In lieu of $1 million bail, each of them was being detained.
A shooting was reported at the intersection of Whispering Palms Trail and Mission Indian Trail on August 13, and the Catholic City Police Department reports that police arrived at the scene just after 8 p.m.
Cmdr. Jon Enos said that when officers got on the scene, they discovered a victim on the ground with gunshot wounds.
The subject was declared dead at the site even though paramedics attempted life-saving efforts.
According to Enos, the victim, who was later identified as 13-year-old Alan Martinez of Cathedral City, was strolling with two other individuals on Whispering Palms Trail when a dark automobile pulled up to them. For unknown reasons, an altercation broke out.

One of the car’s occupants shot at the group during the purported altercation, hitting the teenager.
The other two people were not reported to have been injured.
