Three hospitalized after traffic crash in Oceanside

Three people were hospitalized on Saturday after an early-morning car-motorcycle incident in Oceanside, according to authorities.

At two in the morning, the crash happened. According to Oceanside Police Department spokeswoman Gina Avalos, a Harley-Davidson motorbike driving east on Mission Avenue struck a Volkswagen Beetle traveling north on Douglas Drive on the driver’s side on Saturday.

The 24-year-old rider was thrown from the motorcycle together with his 23-year-old female passenger. According to Avalos, the passenger was admitted to the hospital with moderate injuries, while the driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Volkswagen’s driver, a 19-year-old from Oceanside, was hospitalized after suffering minor injuries. According to Avalos, there was no suspicion that she was impaired by alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.

Although the investigation is still ongoing, preliminary results suggest that the motorbike driver’s alcohol use may have contributed to the collision, according to authorities.

The inquiry was being carried out by the Major Accident inquiry Team of the Oceanside Police Department, which had arrived on the scene. Anyone with information on the crash was requested to call 760-435-4651 to speak with Officer Kevin Lissner.
