Three fires break out in San Diego County, largest near Camp Pendleton

San Diego County saw three fires start nearly at the same time Thursday, one of which spread to 200 acres.

Both the Dennery Fire in San Ysidro and the Basilone Fire in North County near Camp Pendleton started at 1:15 p.m.

Nearer 1 p.m., the Jamacha Fire in East County started in the Rancho San Diego region.

No evacuation orders have been issued in response to any of the fires as of 4 p.m. While the Basilone Fire has developed, the other two are still tiny.

The initial size of that fire was two acres, but it has already expanded to 200 acres. Watch Duty, a nonprofit internet organization, said that a fire operation was started to help fight the flames, but the fire kept spreading.

In retaliation, Camp Pendleton closed Basilone Road in the north central section of the base, connecting Las Pulgas Road to the Camp Horno 53 Area.

In contrast, the Dennery Fire and the Jamacha Fire are considerably smaller.

At about 0.25 acres, the Jamacha Fire is a minor vegetation fire. Around 2:00 p.m., a helicopter was sent to the scene to deliver water, but the fire is still uncontrolled.

Watch Duty alerts indicate that the Dennery Fire has halted its forward advance, while it is still active. At two acres, the fire is holding. Crews on the ground and in the air were sent to combat the fires, which do not yet threaten any buildings.
