Suspicious vehicle, fire near Escondido hotel prompt arson investigation

Shortly after police received a complaint of a strange car in the area, a vegetation fire started near a hotel in Escondido, prompting an arson investigation.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Escondido police responded to a report of an odd car near 200 La Terraza Blvd. According to OnScene.TV, reports of a vegetation fire at the same spot surfaced minutes later.

Because of its close vicinity to SpringHill Suites and other neighboring structures, firefighters responded promptly and elevated the fire to a second alarm. Since then, the fire has been put out.

According to Onscene.TV, police are still looking for the car and its passengers.
