The office of San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond honored Soroptimist International of Vista and North County Inland’s longstanding efforts to combat human trafficking on July 21 with a special proclamation. The distinction is given in advance of July 30th, World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
Alyssa Formolo, Supervisor Desmond’s Policy Advisor and Community Liaison, delivered the proclamation to the club members at the Vista Courthouse.
The neighborhood Soroptimist chapter has spearheaded community-based initiatives to increase awareness and seek remedies for human trafficking in North County for the last 20 years. In addition to hosting North County Anti-Human Trafficking Collaborative meetings, which bring together volunteers, community partners, and guest speakers to exchange ideas and tactics, the group holds an annual Human Trafficking Awareness Walk in Vista every January.

On January 10, 2026, the 20th Annual Human Trafficking Awareness Walk will be held, while the next Collaborative meeting is set for October 9.
