In a federal court in Athens, seven Georgians have been charged with conspiring to use a dark web vendor account to transport hundreds of packages containing methamphetamine and fentanyl across the nation.
Even though a federal grand jury delivered the indictment over a month ago, two of the defendants weren’t arraigned until last week.
Approximately five kilos of fentanyl-based powder, one kilogram of cocaine, several pounds of marijuana, 200 pills, six weapons, and automobiles were found during search warrants that were executed on May 19 at several sites throughout metro Atlanta. According to the indictment, WallStreetBets, a dark web seller under the direction of Stephen Oboite and Eric Bechet, started supplying copious amounts of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and other illegal drugs.
They reported 2,777 sales in the Previous Vendor Feedback area of a dark web market, purportedly shipping packages of illegal substances from Georgia to numerous locations across the United States.
Prepaid shipping labels created by a third-party postage supplier that took cryptocurrencies as payment and mailing envelopes lined with bubble wrap or padding were among the common features of the packages.
