The event, which is currently commemorating its 25th year, will take place at the Town and Country Resort in Mission Valley through Sunday. Explore the art, music, beverages, and fashion of Polynesia. Take in dozens more bands as well. Individual adult event tickets start at $45; multi-day passes are also available.
This is the final opportunity to witness the comedy Noises Off, which was rerun at the Old Globe Theatre. Watch backstage as a fictional theater company deals with a cast that occasionally forgets props and canoodles and fumbles their lines. The weekend’s ticket prices start at $70 and include two matinees and three evening shows. Sunday is the last day of the revival.
The season for the nighttime adventure Row in the Dark on Carlsbad Lagoon is halfway through. After the sun sets, pick an aquacycle, paddleboard, or kayak and have a tour on the sea. In addition to three hours, you may enjoy beach games by the campfire and live music. For a rowing date on Friday or September 12, tickets are $49 each.
With the intention of showcasing and honoring the distinctively delectable foods of the African Diaspora, the San Diego Soul Food Fest celebrates its fifth year on Saturday. General entry costs $12.50 to enjoy vendors and entertainment from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, but tickets that include samples are sold out. Proceed to North Park Community Park, 4044 Idaho St.
Petco Park hosts Bark at the Big Screen on Saturday because the Padres are out of town. In addition to taking your dogs to Gallagher Square behind the field, this is an opportunity to celebrate Petco’s 60th anniversary and see The Sandlot, the iconic baseball game from childhood. A human and their dog best friend are admitted with each $23 ticket. The movie begins thirty minutes after the gates open at six o’clock.

The 31st Festival of New Plays, a showcase for Indigenous playwrights, is being presented by the La Jolla Playhouse in collaboration with Native Voices. Two pieces are on display at the festival: Pieon/Thunderbird by Dillon Chitto, of the Mississippi Choctaw, Laguna, and Isleta Pueblo, and A Century of Sparrows by Sierra Rosetta, of the Lac Courte Oreilles Chippewa Nation. On Sunday, the Theodore and Adele Shank Theatre will host free performances at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Online reservations are accepted.
Hillcrest’s annual free celebration of community spirit, CityFest, includes food booths, live bands, dance music, and DJs. Families will enjoy the free festival, which spans several blocks on 5th Avenue south of University Avenue and lasts far into the night.
