Leaders of the San Diego Humane Society declared on Tuesday that the group would halve adoption costs in August.
Better yet, on August 23, all fees will be eliminated in order to free up overcrowded shelters.
900 of the almost 1,900 animals in the humane society’s care are available for adoption right now. In an effort to promote pet adoption at a time when shelters nationwide are at or beyond capacity, NBCUniversal and Telemundo are spearheading the nationwide Clear the Shelters campaign, which includes the August push.
According to Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and CEO of the San Diego Humane Society, adopting a pet not only improves their life but also improves yours. Every animal in our care has the capacity to become a person’s best friend; they are just waiting for the opportunity to present itself.
There has never been a better time to consider adoption than now.
