An executive order establishing a federal task force on the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles is set to be signed by President Donald Trump on Tuesday.
The change, which was to be formally confirmed during a signing ceremony attended by athletes and Olympic officials, was acknowledged in a statement sent by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Monday.
In a statement to news outlets, she claimed that President Trump had a key role in obtaining America’s bid to host the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles during his first term. Overseeing major international athletic event during his second term is a significant honor for the President. One of President Trump’s biggest interests is sports, and his skill as an athlete and his unparalleled hospitality background will make these Olympic events the most thrilling and unforgettable in history.
Trump recently met with Casey Wasserman, the chairman and president of LA28, to discuss the Games, and Wasserman released his own statement.
