PHOTO GALLERY: K-9 Henk laid to rest in Helen

On Thursday, local law enforcement had a sorrowful day as they buried one of their own.

K-9 For a little more than a year, Henk was employed at the Helen Police Department. died last week while training.

As Henk’s handler, Sgt. Ray Rutledge, bid farewell to his beloved K-9 partner, dozens of other law enforcement personnel joined him. They escorted Henk’s body to the Helen Police Department, where he was buried with full honors, after attending a memorial service for him at Helen First Baptist Church.

Daniel Purcell and Katelynn Hulsey of Habersham took pictures of the procession and public funeral in remembrance of Henk and his contributions to our community.
