According to a fellow passenger, a man was reported to a head flight attendant after asking a question.
A Delta first-class passenger on a redeye flight from Maui to Fort Lauderdale posted on Reddit, titled “In today’s edition of Things NOT to ask a flight attendant…” The passenger reported that, just as cabin service was about to begin, the flyer sitting directly in front of them in 1B approached one of the flight attendants to ask a question.
“Hey, totally random question, but on my last couple of flights I noticed the FAs did not block access to the galley when the pilot used the lavatory,” the 1B passenger stated, according to the poster, before asking, “Is this a new procedure for you guys?”
The flight attendant allegedly said, “Hmm, that’s news to me,” before informing the cabin manager.
According to the poster, the cabin manager approached the passenger in seat 1B and enquired about his inquiry. The passenger replied that he “was just curious” before laughing it off.
The cabin manager informed the passenger that he was not permitted to share information with him, to which the passenger in 1B answered, “Oh excuse me, I didn’t realise I wasn’t able to ask questions.”
According to the posting, the cabin manager informed the passenger that he was not allowed to “answer questions related to the aircraft’s security.”
The traveler, who appeared to be confused, enquired as to why the protocol was being followed.
“Seriously? You understand why. “Don’t you remember 9/11?” the poster alleges the chief flight attendant said before proceeding. “We can’t discuss those things. So, thank you for sharing your observations from previous flights.”
The scheduled flight continued as planned until the pilot got up to use the restroom for the length of the flight. The Reddit user added that two flight attendants were brought to the front of the aircraft to “block the galley and one of them stared at 1B the entire time 😂”.
“Unbelievable this guy can’t understand why it might be suspicious for the passenger seated in one of the two closest possible seats to the flight deck door to ask about galley obstructions procedures,” the individual sitting next to 1B wrote.
PEOPLE contacted Delta for comment on the event, but did not receive a quick response.
Forum users responded to the situation in the comments section.
“How much do you want to bet the feds now have an eye out for that passenger?” one person enquired in the comments section.
One commenter revealed that something similar happened to them when they were a teenager working at a fast food restaurant.
“I did this once, but I don’t know if I’m on the spectrum. At my first fast food job, I asked the manager “what time the money truck comes to pick up all the money.” “I was 16 and genuinely curious, and she started asking why really defensively ðŸ˜.”
