New Orleans police took four people into custody Friday in connection with last week’s jailbreak.

Police say their investigation led them to a home in New Orleans East.

This afternoon around three o’clock, the NOPD’s Special Operations Tactical II Investigations Team surrounded the home, and the four surrendered peacefully.

Police arrested 28-year-old Emmitt Weber and booked him for accessory after the fact to simple escape.

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) has taken four individuals into custody in connection with a recent jailbreak that shook the city.

Authorities confirmed that the arrests followed an intensive investigation into the escape, which involved multiple inmates breaking out of custody. The NOPD worked closely with local correctional officers and federal agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible.

“The swift action taken by our officers and partners demonstrates our commitment to public safety and to holding those accountable who seek to undermine the law,” said a spokesperson for the NOPD.

Details about the identities of the suspects and the circumstances of their involvement remain under investigation. Law enforcement officials have indicated that more arrests may be forthcoming as the probe continues.

The jailbreak had raised concerns across the community, with residents expressing fears about safety and security. The NOPD’s prompt response has been met with relief and appreciation from local leaders and citizens alike.

Officials urge anyone with additional information related to the jailbreak or the suspects to contact the NOPD to assist with ongoing efforts.

Anyone with information that can assist authorities in their manhunt for the five remaining escapees is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or toll free at (877) 903-7867 (STOP).

Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward.
