New mural in Pacific Beach brings the waves to Mission Surf

A PACIFIC BEACHHanna Daly has once again succeeded. The prolific painter just completed another mural in Pacific Beach, contributing to the lively beach culture and art scene in the area.

On the side of Mission Surf, located at 4320 Mission Blvd., Daly collaborated with Kona Big Wave, a Hawaiian brewing firm, to design a picture of flowers and waves. It took roughly seven days to complete.

Daly has been around the PB block before. In Pacific Beach, she has painted a number of murals on walls and buildings.

Additionally, this most recent addition won’t be her last.

PB is simply an enjoyable community. She said, “Everyone wants to stop and talk to you.” That’s always what I like best.

Daly spends a week working on this enormous mural, but most of her work just takes a few days. The process took a little longer because of the scale of the artwork and the terrible parking conditions. Daly, however, pushed through.

She claimed that working with Kona Big Wave was simple because she enjoys painting flowers and waves, which is exactly what this mural included. She expressed her admiration for Kona Big Wave’s dedication to using public art as a marketing tool.

It’s nice that they seem to understand the power of public art. She said it’s entertaining to see large corporations doing more than simply branding; they’re making art.

Over 1,500 murals have been painted by Daly since she began painting in 2004. Her passion for murals stemmed from her conviction that making art for everyone is rewarding.

Daly loves her days at the beach, despite the parking issues. She is working on another painting at Ocean’s Ice Cream on the boardwalk.

She will return to painting at Pacific Beach after completing a project in Little Italy, where her vibrant brushstrokes will cover every wall.
