MTS pumps up trolley service for key games ahead at Petco Park

MTS is on the case as the Padres prepare for a major week-long home stand against divisional rivals, which begins Monday and draws sellout crowds for all seven games.

The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System is offering additional trolley service before and after each game to help fans avoid traffic jams and expensive parking costs when more than 280,000 people visit Petco Park over the seven-game stretch—four with the Giants and three with the Dodgers.

According to a news release from MTS, pre-game service for all seven games begins in the evening and includes trolleys that serve all stations at intervals of at least 15 minutes, with the exception of Thursday and Sunday matinees. As game time draws nearer, more service will be added to the Green Line.

The night games’ post-game:

  • UC San Diego Blue Line Trolleys will depart downtown every 15 minutes to San Ysidro and to UTC.
  • Green Line Trolleys will depart downtown every 15 minutes, with extra trips as needed from the Gaslamp Quarter Station until crowds diminish.
  • Orange Line Trolleys will depart downtown every 15 minutes after the game ends until crowds diminish.
