Investigators worked on Tuesday to determine what caused a traffic crash that killed a 27-year-old motorcyclist in Lakeside.
The man, from the Sun City community of Menifee, was headed south on state Route 67 in Santee when his 2024 Harley-Davidson was in a collision.
The motorcycle rear-ended a 2006 Ford F-150 north of Woodside Avenue shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, sending the rider tumbling onto the roadway, according to the
California Highway Patrol.
Witnesses tried to revive the motorcyclist prior to the arrival of paramedics, who assumed the lifesaving attempts and took him to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
His name was withheld pending family notification.

The driver of the pickup truck, a Lakeside man, 46, was unhurt, according to the CHP.
It was not immediately clear what caused the fatal wreck. It is unknown drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the crash, according to the CHP.
