Missing juvenile found with sex offender during Northeast Georgia traffic stop

During a traffic stop early Friday morning, Franklin County detectives arrested a guy from Idaho and located a missing juvenile from Washington. A Flock Safety camera led deputies to a car connected to a missing person, according to Sheriff Scott Andrews.Dennis Caelen (Source: Sex Offender Registry of Idaho)

The driver, Caelen Dennis, 25, of Idaho, was found to be a registered sex offender who is not allowed to interact with children and a missing adult. Deputies found the missing toddler inside the car. Because of their age, the juvenile’s name is being withheld.

Dennis was found guilty in 2023 of engaging in indecent behavior with a minor kid under the age of sixteen, according to the Idaho Sex Offender Registry. He failed his most recent yearly processing, according to the Registry.

Dennis was taken into custody by deputies and sent to the Franklin County Detention Center.

Sheriff Andrews emphasized the need of online safety, saying that in order to keep their kids safe, parents should keep a tight eye on their social media connections and online activities.
