Man struck by Jeep in Midway area, hospitalized

According to investigators, a Jeep struck a 69-year-old man who was crossing a street in the Midway area on Sunday, sending him to the hospital with shattered bones.

The San Diego Police Department reports that the collision happened in the 3800 block of Camino del Rio West just after noon on Sunday due to high traffic.

According to authorities, a 34-year-old man’s Jeep Wrangler struck the unnamed pedestrian.

With what police characterized as critical injuries—a broken pelvis and an open fracture to the right leg—the victim was transported by ambulance to a hospital.

While looking into the accident, the department’s Traffic Division encouraged anyone with pertinent information to call San Diego Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or the police.
