Man is accused of rape and sexual assault in Philipsburg after his second arrest this month

A Clearfield County man was arrested on Friday for rape and sexual assault, less than two weeks after being detained on separate felony accusations of strangulation and aggravated indecent assault.

Gage T. Swoope, 28, was accused of raping the lady for roughly an hour in March at her residence in Philipsburg. The woman claimed she fought and yelled to get him off of her, but he continued to force her onto the bed and seized her cellphone, according to an affidavit of probable cause from state police in Rockview.

A trooper stated that his accuser claimed she was in “so much pain” following the alleged incident.

Swoope was previously arrested earlier this month after the same lady claimed he grabbed her by the neck, threw her against a wall in her bedroom, disrobed, and digitally penetrated her, according to a second affidavit of probable cause.

A message left for defense attorney Gregory E. Davidson on Tuesday was not immediately returned.

District Judge Casey McClain arraigned Swoope after his last arrest and set bail at $300,000. He is jailed in the Centre County Correctional Facility. His preliminary hearings are planned for June 4.
