When police arrived on Tuesday, a man had holed up in his flat and refused to come out. This led to a five-hour SWAT standoff, during which he was arrested.
He reportedly threatened to stab his ex-girlfriend at her house in Otay Mesa earlier, but he ran away when she phoned the police.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the woman called 911 just before three in the morning to report that a 31-year-old guy she had dated had stabbed her and driven her through her home close to the intersection of Coronado Avenue and Interstate 5.
According to Officer Colin Steinbroner, the subject had already left when the police arrived.
After that, the staff proceeded to the man’s flat in the Caminito Tulipan 1200 block, evacuated the nearby homes, and gave the suspect the order to turn himself in. Police sent a SWAT squad after he resisted for almost four hours, according to Steinbroner.
