After reportedly murdering his brother and running away into the woods close to a Royston motel, a guy was taken into custody on Wednesday.
Around 6 p.m. on August 6, Royston Police were called to the Days Inn on Hartwell Street. Travis John Hill, 42, had a laceration on his arm when the police came. According to police, he told them that his brother, Christopher Lee Hill, 39, had stabbed him and fled the scene.
A coordinated search was conducted by officers from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Hart County Sheriff’s Office, and Royston Police Department. Brady Roberts, a firefighter from Royston, helped by using a drone that detects heat.
Officers found Hill and safely took him into custody following a brief drone search. He was sent to the Hart County Detention Facility.
Hill faces charges of obstruction, carrying a knife while committing a crime, and aggravated assault (domestic violence).
In a statement, the Royston Police Department expressed its appreciation to the troops and responding agencies.
The department stated that with their assistance, we were able to help the victim and find a dangerous suspect in a matter of minutes.
