Las Vegas — A judge ordered a hearing Tuesday to recall jurors who convicted the man accused of orchestrating Tupac Shakur’s murder over a jail fight.
On April 9, a Clark County jury convicted Davis, 61, of fighting with another inmate at the Clark County Detention Centre in December. The one-day trial included two charges. Davis is in custody on charges of orchestrating Tupac Shakur’s 1996 murder.
In documents filed on April 18, Davis’ attorney claimed that during a break, several jurors discussed “about inmates fighting about how the little guy has to work harder to preserve his reputation” while waiting for lunch.
Clark County District Court Judge Nadia Krall ordered an evidentiary hearing on July 2 to hear jurors’ perspectives on the allegation. The fourteen jurors were expected to attend.
Throughout the trial, Krall repeatedly instructed the jury not to discuss the case during any breaks until jury deliberations. Davis’ attorneys were not informed of the conversation until after the verdict, according to documents.
In April, the jury deliberated for 90 minutes before reaching its guilty verdict. Both charges carry prison sentences.
Davis’ trial on the murder charge was set for 2026.
