Juveniles among 7 injured in gunshot at jackson, tennessee, park, according to authorities

Gunfire erupted in a Jackson, Tennessee, park Saturday night, injuring seven people, including minors, and prompting police to search for the shooters, according to authorities.

The incident took place at Kate Campbell Park, northeast of downtown Jackson, according to the Jackson Police Department.

One of the gunshot victims was in serious condition in the hospital, two were stable, and four were treated and released, according to an amended statement issued Sunday morning.

There have been no arrests announced.

Police officers arrived to the park after receiving reports of a shooting involving children about 8:41 p.m., according to an earlier statement from authorities.

Police are still investigating the circumstances around the incident, as well as the purpose for it. Investigators were still collecting evidence at the crime scene Sunday morning and interviewing witnesses.

The Jackson Police Department urged anyone with knowledge regarding the shooting or video footage from the incident to contact police right away.
