A collision on the northbound side of Interstate 5 caused traffic to snarl for miles on Monday morning, forcing the temporary closure of the whole route at Camp Pendleton north of Oceanside.
A helicopter was reportedly brought to the scene, possibly landing on the southbound lanes and prompting a closure of traffic in that direction, however it was unclear if anyone was hurt in the collision.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the collision happened on the northbound I-5 approximately three and a half miles north of Harbor Drive at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Monday.

Around 8 a.m., the left two lanes of the northbound freeway and the southbound lanes of the expressway were reopened. Shortly before 9:30 a.m., the remaining northbound lanes were once again available.
