Hundreds of lost items still unclaimed at San Diego County Fair

Nearly 700 things have been returned to the San Diego County Fair’s Lost & Found so far this year.

Every summer, it takes place. People lose their phones, wallets, sunglasses, hats, shoes, and keys in the midst of the throng, food, music, and rides at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Sometimes a child’s shoe is kicked off without anyone noticing. Sometimes it’s a credit card dropped in the ground or a phone abandoned on a bench. It usually ends up at Guest Services, regardless of what it is.

The Fair is still trying to get dozens of misplaced objects back to their owners before it closes for the year on Sunday, July 6. Despite the fact that many have already been claimed, a startling number remain in the office.

“The Fair gives our visitors memories they won’t soon forget,” stated Tristan Hallman, Chief Communications Officer for the Fair. Regretfully, there are instances when the recollections are so wonderful that individuals just forget to take their material belongings with them.”Please come and get anything you left here,” he stated simply.

How to Locate Lost Items

Give the Guest Services department a call at 858-794-1124 and leave a thorough message if you believe you left something behind.

Incorporate:

  • Whether you already reported the item and, if so, the report number and date.
  • A clear description of the lost item.
  • The day you visited the Fair.
  • Your name (spell it out if needed) and phone number, spoken slowly and clearly.

Include the phone’s brand (iPhone, Samsung, etc.), provider (Verizon, AT&T, etc.), and any distinguishing characteristics (such as a sticker or case).

Note the number of keys, if a fob is included, their type (office, home, or car), and anything unique about the keychain.
