After experiencing heat exhaustion on a route in the Rancho Penasquitos area on Sunday, a hiker was transported to a hospital.
According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, first responders were dispatched to Los Pe asquitos Canyon, located on Park Village Road, around 2:40 p.m. on Sunday in order to help the individual. About a mile past the waterfall, the hiker, who wished to remain anonymous, was accompanied by three other people.
According to the agency, the hiker was flown to a nearby Sharp Hospital. The condition of the individual was not revealed.

The parks are Mt. Gower Preserve in Ramona, Hellhole Canyon Preserve in Valley Center, and El Capitan Preserve, which is close to the Lakeside neighborhood, according to a county news release.
According to officials, the county closes the parks in August to safeguard locals during what is frequently the hottest season.
