Once more, Habersham County has been recognized nationally for its superior financial reporting. For the fiscal year that concluded on June 30, 2024, the county received its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
The award is predicated on the county’s yearly full financial report, which was determined by an unbiased panel to satisfy the strict requirements of the GFOA. In order to engage people and stakeholders, these include a spirit of complete disclosure and a clear presentation of the county’s financial story.
The highest honor in government accounting and financial reporting is the Certificate of Achievement. Its achievement, in the opinion of GFOA, is a noteworthy feat by a government and its leadership.
The Finance Department is incredibly proud of their accomplishment, according to Interim Finance Director Kiani Holden. She underlined the county’s yearly audit’s vital significance on a number of levels.
According to her, the county audit is crucial for demonstrating the county’s financial stability and adherence to financial laws. Our efforts to apply for and get funding would not be feasible without a clean audit.
Holden went on to say that the goal of the finance department is to promote financial excellence by protecting county assets and delivering timely and accurate financial information for the benefit of all employees and residents.
