Flames spread from garage to home, drawing firefighters from SD, National City

According to a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokeswoman, crews responded to a well-involved garage fire that expanded into a home’s attic near Skyline on Saturday.

Just after 9:45 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to the single-family residence located in the 100 block of Sears Avenue. It took up to 39 members of the National City Fire Department and SDFD 13 minutes to put out the fire.

According to the spokesperson, reports that people were trapped in the burning house were untrue.

Although one person received medical evaluation, it was unknown whether the fire caused major injury to that person.

The cause of the incident is being investigated, and a damage estimate was not provided.
