To better support American and international forces in the Pacific, defense technology company Saronic announced the opening of a brand-new 80,000-square-foot office in downtown San Diego.
Saronic Technologies, based in Austin, Texas, constructs autonomous surface ships that can conduct marine operations without human assistance.
Rob Lehman, co-founder and chief commercial officer, claims that the company’s six distinct models achieve high level autonomous behaviors by combining AI, communication technologies, and sophisticated censors.
According to him, the company’s operations will be housed in the new building on the West Coast.
“We’re thrilled to join and contribute to this vibrant community, as San Diego is a crucial node in the U.S. maritime defense landscape,” Lehman said.

With the General Dynamics NASSCO shipyard, which specializes in manufacturing Navy ships and commercial cargo carriers, and military post San Diego, the country’s second-largest military post, San Diego has long been a center for nautical activity.
Lehman stated that moving to San Diego felt like a logical next step given Saronic’s explosive growth since its founding in 2022, which has been driven by recently awarded federal contracts and $600 million in funding.
The new site will house daily operations, such as business, customer service, and depot maintenance, even though it won’t be used as a shipyard.
Lehman’s move into San Diego represents a return to the West Coast for him personally.
Prior to Saronic, he was assigned to Camp Pendleton as an officer in the Marine Corps. He would later meet his wife on one of the area’s sandy beaches.
Lehman stated that he would be making as many trips from Austin to San Diego as he could.

Saronic revealed that they are looking to grow their personnel in San Diego in addition to the new building.
Talent from a variety of business domains, such as customer service agents and support technicians, is sought after by the organization.
The hub will be completely operational in the coming months, Lehman said.
According to Lehman, our presence in San Diego is a testament to our dedication to the area’s creativity and economic revival as well as to our Navy partners.
