City officials are holding a special symposium on Tuesday, September 23 to invite the public to participate in a thorough discussion regarding Cornelia’s housing future.
The Cornelia Housing Symposium, presented by the Georgia Conservancy, will present the findings of months of investigation into the housing requirements of the community, both now and in the future. A Q&A session and visual proposals for possible infill development will be part of the presentation, which is titled Preserving the Past, Shaping the Future: A Data Analysis About the Current and Future Housing Needs of Cornelia.
The event, according to Cornelia Community Development Director Jessie Owensby, is the result of six months of hard labor.
According to Owensby, we have been conducting a lot of research, gathering feedback from the public, conducting surveys, holding town hall meetings, inspecting existing homes, finding infill properties, and analyzing data over the past six months. In order to help the public understand what we have, what we need, what we desire, where we need it, where we want it, how much it costs, and how much we can afford, all of that accumulated data will be presented here.(Source: Cornelia City)
The event is open to everyone, not only Cornelia locals, Owensby said.
Everyone interested in housing is welcome to attend this talk. “We would be thrilled if everyone from Habersham County could come,” she said. It is crucial that our citizens comprehend our actions and the reasons behind them.
The Cornelia Community House, located at 601 Wyly Street, will host the symposium on September 23 at 6 p.m.
