Cooler weather, storms forecast this week in San Diego County

According to the National Weather Service, a change in weather patterns will bring colder temperatures and the potential for afternoon storms to the area this week.

Tuesday’s temperatures are predicted to be 74 degrees at the coast, 75 to 78 degrees inland, 76 to 81 degrees in the western lowlands, 83 to 88 degrees near the foothills, 85 to 95 degrees in the mountains, and 108 to 112 degrees in the deserts.

Tuesday through Wednesday, high pressure is predicted to wane, bringing temperatures in the valleys down to 8 to 12 degrees below average.

A weak upper-level low from the south will bring in monsoonal moisture by Thursday and Friday, raising the likelihood of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, particularly in mountain and high desert regions. According to the NWS, Friday is when the storm chances are at their highest.
