Clarkesville city authorities will discuss two important suggestions to improve the city’s light pollution and public safety at their monthly meeting on Monday night.
A vote on a proposed lighting ordinance is the first item on the agenda. This citywide law would control outdoor lighting in public areas, businesses, and residential areas. Proponents claim that the rule aims to preserve Clarkesville’s small-town charm, lower energy use, and lessen light pollution.
Participation in the Northeast Georgia Regional Radio Network, a multi-county emergency communications system, is also up for vote. If authorized, Clarkesville would have access to common radio infrastructure, which would enhance emergency coordination between the local fire, police, and emergency medical services and other agencies.
Clarkesville City Hall will host the public meeting on July 7 at 6 p.m.
