Beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, Clarkesville Baptist Church will celebrate Independence Day with a range of entertainment.
Families can enjoy activities like cotton candy, ring throw, apple bobbing, cornhole, face painting, and watermelon seed splitting next to the ministry building. There will be food available at the event.
According to Pastor Grady Walden, the celebration will honor area first responders. He said, “We just want to say thank you to them and take care of them for a little while because of all they do for the community.”
Grady estimated that 200 to 250 people would attend the celebration, indicating that a sizable turnout was expected.
From 6 to 7 p.m. and from 7:35 to 8 p.m., the Old Sautee Pickers will perform gospel and bluegrass music on the church’s front steps. Walden and other church officials will have a devotion and honor first responders in between the performances.
Before the celebrations continue, the winners of the church’s pie baking competition will be revealed. The event’s seed splitting competition winners will receive trophies at the conclusion of the evening.
