A water main break in the 700 block of Flat Rock Road has prompted the City of Baldwin to issue a boil water advisory. Customers on Flat Rock Road, Soapstone Road, and Moss Mill Road may experience low water pressure or interrupted water delivery as a result of the breach.
According to city officials, the advise is being given out of a sense of caution because losing water pressure can lead to microbiological contamination.
For drinking, brushing teeth, cleaning food, creating ice, preparing baby formula, and giving drinking water for pets, residents who have experienced water outages or low water pressure are advised to bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least two minutes or use bottled water.
Until water testing indicates there is no risk to public health, the alert will stay in force. Before using water for drinking or food preparation, patrons should flush all faucets for a minimum of two minutes after lifting them.
