The anticipated prize for Tuesday’s drawing of the multi-state Mega Millions lottery has increased to $253 million because no tickets were sold that matched all six numbers in the most recent drawing.
According to the Mega Millions Consortium, which runs the game, a ticket worth $2 million that had five numbers but omitted the Mega Ball was sold in North Carolina. The sum can vary from $2 million to $10 million and is determined by multiplying the ticket’s multiplier by one million.
The Mega Ball was 12, and the numbers that were selected on Friday were 18, 30, 44, 48, and 50. The jackpot was anticipated to be $234 million.
Since the last time a ticket with all six numbers was sold, this was the sixteenth drawing.
The Mega Millions Consortium states that there is a 1 in 290,472,336 chance of matching all five numbers and the Mega Ball.Overall, there is a 1 in 23 chance of receiving a prize.
