by ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves overcame a six-run deficit to defeat the Chicago White Sox 11-10 on Tuesday night after Drake Baldwin hit a two-run single with two outs in the eighth inning.
Jurickson Profar and Michael Harris II each blasted two-run home runs. The Braves were behind 10-4 in the seventh inning when Matt Olson had four hits and Ozzie Albies went 3 for 5 with two RBIs.
For his 20th save, Raisel Iglesias pitched a perfect ninth. For the last out, Harris made a sliding catch in center field.
In 4 2/3 innings, Atlanta starter Bryce Elder allowed eight runs. Dylan Lee (2-3) won the game with a scoreless eighth.
With his glove, Mike Tauchman, a diving right fielder, short-hopped the ball as Baldwin’s game-winning hit fell inches in front of him.
In the ninth, with the bases loaded and no outs, the Braves retired Profar at home when Harris bunted back to the pitcher, and Marcell Ozuna flied out. Then Baldwin appeared.
Kyle Teel, a rookie from Chicago, with four RBIs and a home run. Miguel Vargas scored three runs, and Luis Robert Jr. drove in three.
Shane Smith, a rookie with the White Sox, pitched six innings and allowed seven hits, including two home runs, and four runs. The loss went to Tyler Alexander (4-11).
The White Sox had a five-run fifth inning that was completed by Robert’s three-run double. With his fourth home run of the season in the sixth, Teel added two more to put Chicago ahead 10–4.
In the eighth inning, the Braves answered with five runs to narrow the deficit to 10-9. Ronald Acua Jr., Baldwin, and Nacho Alvarez Jr. all had RBIs, while Albies singled for two runs.
