On Saturday, Arts District Liberty Station will kick off its Summer Arts Fest series, encouraging everyone to enjoy free music while lounging in the sun.
On Saturday and the second Saturday of the next two months, August 9 and September 13, the Summer Arts Fest will take place.
According to Lisa Johnson, president and CEO of Arts District Liberty Station, “this event is truly special because it highlights the incredible talent within our local music scene and gives artists a platform to connect with the community.” Summer Arts Fest celebrates innovation and sustains San Diego’s thriving arts culture in addition to offering fantastic music.
Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy the great music, regardless of whether they enjoy jazz, pop, R&B, or blues.
Whitney Shay’s blues vocals will be featured on Saturday. Ruf Records Stand Up!, her most recent album, peaked at number one on the Roots Music Report Blues Album Charts and the Billboard Blues Album Charts.
The festival, which is sponsored by California Bank of Commerce and organized by Concert For Your Cause, will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. and be emceed by Apt 4 Music, a music education program at Arts District Liberty Station.
According to the Arts District, Kogee Soul Reprise, lead by vocalist Kori Gillis, will take the stage on August 9 and provide soul, narrative, and a global experience. Gillis became the lead male vocalist with the Naval Forces and Navy Band Southwest after completing the Armed Forces School of Music. Silver Lining, his most recent endeavor, was nominated for a San Diego Award for Best R&B album.

Bringing its analogue dance music ensemble to Liberty Station’s North Promenade on September 13, Bamb Sound Exchange will blend soulful deep house and electronica vibes with international groove music. Under the direction of producers and DJs Andrei Taru on bass and Mitchum Yacoub on drums, the ensemble regularly brings in outside artists and makes impromptu compositions to suit the audience’s mood.
For the free concerts, attendees are urged to bring chairs, picnic blankets, and snacks.
