Another ‘Glorious Fourth’ planned in Demorest

In honor of America’s 249th birthday, Demorest’s Glorious Fourth is back this year.

The date of this year’s event is set for Friday, July 4. The popular Glorious Fourth Parade will begin at 11 a.m., after a morning 5K. The parade will start at Florida Street and Central Avenue/Hwy. 441 and proceed past Piedmont University through the center of downtown.

Demorest City Councilmember Shawn Allen tells Now Habersham, “We decided that it’ll go back to being an all-day event, and I’m excited for it.”In July 2024, John Berry and his band play at Demorest Springs Park’s Glorious Fourth performance. Source: NowHabersham.com/Daniel Purcell

Sarah Rumsey, a demorest utilities clerk, is once again in charge of planning the event.

There will be 21 vendors total, split equally between craft and food merchants. According to her, there will be entertainment at the pavilion next to the post office from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. There will be a petting zoo, bouncy houses, and, I believe, a cooling station, much like last year.

Additional highlights include of:

Horseshoe and cornhole tournaments at 1 p.m.Cakewalk at 5 p.m.Live music in Demorest Springs Park at 6 p.m.Around 9:45 p.m., fireworks

Music in the park and fireworks

Tad Boemer will be the first musical performer to take the stage at Demorest Springs Park at 6 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., Troubadour Project, this year’s main act, will take the stage.

“We’ll shoot fireworks from behind the Brentley Moore Ballfield in the evening,” Allen explains.

In order to give spectators time to go to an open viewing place, the city typically permits some lag time between the conclusion of the concert and the start of the fireworks. The park cannot see the fireworks because of the forest cover. Between Florida and Alabama Streets, near Demorest City Hall, is the ideal place to see fireworks.PHOTO IN A FILE On Thursday, July 4, 2024, an aerial photograph of Demorest Springs Park shows the masses gathered for a musical evening during the Glorious Fourth celebration.
