A man from South Carolina is being charged with stealing a trailer and motorcycle from a company in Toccoa. Cody Maxwell Stovall, 30, was taken into custody by Anderson County deputies on August 6 and accused with two charges of theft by taking.
A hunt for a suspect in the crime lasted over two weeks until the arrest.
On Sunday night, July 27, the motorcycle and trailer were reported stolen from the parking area by the business owner. A truck bearing a South Carolina license plate was seen entering the lot and taking the stolen goods, according to security footage. Later, investigators discovered that the plate was not associated with the car.
The SCSO Traffic Unit followed the suspect truck using the FLOCK video system. The public was sent a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) via social media and the sheriff’s office’s mobile app.

Stovall was arrested by Anderson County deputies when they pulled over a car on Wednesday, August 6. During the traffic stop, deputies found the stolen trailer and gave it back to its owner.
On Friday, August 8, authorities sent Stovall to the Stephens County Jail, where he is still being held on a $20,000 bond. Investigators found the stolen motorcycle in Anderson County the same afternoon.
