An ex-teacher's assistant in Augusta County has been accused with inappropriate behavior toward students

A former teacher’s aide at an alternative school in Augusta County has been jailed for allegedly having inappropriate connections with male students, according to the sheriff’s office.

On May 28, Staunton resident Beyonce Milagro Mass, 23, was charged with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a kid by a custodian. The Augusta County grand jury indicted Mass the day before she was arrested.

Mass worked as a teacher’s helper at Valley Academy Regional Alternative School in Fishersville. The sheriff’s office stated that she is no longer employed at the school.

The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into Mass in December after receiving a referral from Child Protective Services (CPS).

According to the sheriff’s office, the inquiry revealed many inappropriate connections between Mass and male students that occurred off campus.

Mass is being jailed without bond at the Middle River Regional Jail in Verona.

This case is still under active investigation.

Augusta County Public Schools and Waynesboro Public Schools collaborate to manage the Valley Academy Regional Alternative School, which began in 2019.
