A Star Spangled Classic ushers in the Fourth in Northeast Georgia

The Star Spangled Classic, the Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department’s annual Fourth of July celebration, took place on Saturday, June 28.

A variety of carnival attractions and bounce houses for the younger festival attendees were among the entertainment options offered by the Star Spangled Classic. The Funk Brotherhood, a live band, performed till the fireworks display. Everyone was able to enjoy the music, which included both contemporary tunes and classics. They featured a food truck court with vendors like Chick-fil-A, Kona Ice, and Cafe Racer to keep the celebrations going.

While the smaller children alternated on the slides and climbed monkey bars, the teenagers played football and soccer. Festival attendees dressed a variety of reds, whites, and blues to suit the occasion. Many people were waiting for the fireworks in the Southeast Clarke Park fields, which were strewn with lawn chairs and picnic blankets.

The fireworks performance was moved from its intended time of 9:30 to 9:15 due to the threat of bad weather. The fireworks display proceeded smoothly in spite of the modification. Festival attendees gazed in wonder as colors flooded the night skies.

Shortly after the final fireworks were set off, the celebrations came to a close.
