Little River, South Carolina — Authorities reported at least 11 people were rushed to hospitals following a gunshot in a South Carolina beach town on Sunday night.
Horry County Police did not release the conditions of those injured or explain how they were harmed in the event, which occurred at 9:30 p.m. in Little River.
Investigators were receiving reports of more people arriving at the hospital in private automobiles, Horry County Police stated on social media.
About 90 minutes after the gunshot, authorities described it as an isolated event with no risk to the community. They did not provide any information about suspected suspects or what caused the shooting.
The incident occurred near a boat port along the Intracoastal Waterway.
A video from the incident shows dozens of police cars and ambulances running in and out of the area.
A North Myrtle Beach police officer responding to the incident accidently shot himself in the leg at a marina about 3 miles (5 kilometers) away and is in stable condition at the hospital, according to North Myrtle Beach spokeswoman Lauren Jessie.
Little River is approximately 20 miles (32 kilometers) northeast of Myrtle Beach.
