New Orleans police make another arrest in their ongoing jail escape investigation

Another person accused of assisting inmates in escaping from a New Orleans jail was caught Friday, authorities said.

The New Orleans Police Department said investigators grabbed four persons at a home, including Emmitt Weber, 28, who was arrested on suspicion of accessory after the fact to simple escape.

According to police, Weber assisted two detainees following the jailbreak at the Orleans Parish Correctional Facility.

Weber is the most recent suspect captured for allegedly supporting those involved in the May 16 escape. As of Friday, five of the ten escaped inmates remained at large.

The most recent arrest occurred on Tuesday, when Corey Boyd was hauled into custody.

Kendell Myles, Robert Moody, Dkenan Dennis, and Gary Price are the other inmates that have been recaptured.

Two others, Casey Smith and Cortnie Harris, have been arrested for allegedly assisting the escapees. Another woman, Connie Weeden, 59, allegedly sent Donald money via a cellphone app.

She has been charged with one felony count of accessory after the fact.

The following fugitives remain at large:

Lenton J. Vanburen Jr., 26, is charged with illegal weapon carrying, felon possession of a firearm or weapon, obstructing justice, and introducing contraband into jail.

Jermaine Donald, 42, is charged with second-degree murder, aggravated battery, felony possession of a firearm or weapon, and obstruction of justice.

Antoine Massey, 32, is charged with domestic abuse, including strangling, vehicle theft, and parole violation.

Derrick Groves, 27, faces three counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder, and battery on a correctional institution employee.

Leo O. Tate Sr., 31, is charged with simple burglary of an inhabited house, felon possession of a firearm or weapon, unlawful weapon carrying, motor vehicle theft, and multiple narcotics crimes.

Authorities have cautioned the public that these men are armed and dangerous.
