PORTLAND, Ore. — A deadly crash on Highway 47 late Wednesday night has led to charges against a man accused of impaired driving that caused the accident.
Details of the Crash
Oregon State Police responded around 10:30 p.m. near milepost 22, south of Forest Grove, after reports of a two-vehicle collision.
- A northbound van crossed the center line and sideswiped a pickup truck.
- The impact caused the pickup to roll over, ejecting the driver.
- The pickup driver, 27-year-old Francisco Romero, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.
- The van’s driver, 22-year-old Martin Santizo, and his passenger were unharmed.
Charges and Investigation
Police determined that driver impairment caused the crash. Santizo was arrested and faces:
- Driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII)
