Average San Diego gas price jumps to $4.81 a gallon

One day after hitting its biggest increase since April 1, 2.9 cents, the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County increased by 2.8 cents to $4.814 on Saturday.

According to data from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service, the average price has increased 6.8 cents over the last four days following four consecutive modest price drops totaling eight-tenths of a cent.

The average price is 4.3 cents lower than a year ago, but 6.9 cents higher than a week ago and 4.9 cents higher than a month ago. Since hitting a record high of $6.434 on October 5, 2022, it has fallen $1.82.

For the fourth day in a row, the national average price increased, rising eight-tenths of a penny to $3.149. Over the last four days, including Friday’s four-tenths of a cent increase, it has increased by 1.9 cents. The increases come after a five-day run of 3 cent declines.

The national average price is 22.5 cents lower than a year ago, seven tenths of a cent higher than a week ago, and six tenths of a cent lower than a month ago. Since peaking at a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022, it has fallen $1.867.
