Outages hit residents throughout county, largest in north San Diego communities

Beginning Saturday afternoon, a series of power outages struck the San Diego Gas & Electric service area, with the northern portion of the city seeing the most severe outages.

According to SDG&E’s online outage map, about 950 customers in Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Pe asquitos, and San Pasqual are without power.

The power outage, which was reported at 4:15 p.m., has no known cause, and it won’t be restored until 10 p.m.

Although considerably fewer customers are being impacted, outages have also been reported in south Chula Vista, Rancho Santa Fe, El Cajon, and the other unincorporated neighborhoods.

In the lesser outages, power is expected to be restored between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m.

SDG&E claims that broken equipment was the cause of the power outage in Rancho Santa Fe and Chula Vista.
