The 50-acre spread of three vegetation fires that forced evacuations in East San Diego County near Jamul was contained by crews on Friday.
Cal Fire reports that the three fires, known as the Springs Fire, were discovered at Lyons Valley Road and Honey Springs Road at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Thursday.
The two other fires have combined, and the smallest of the three fires’ rate of spread was halted. According to fire officials, the fire was raging in rocky, steep terrain with annual grasses and medium brush.
According to Cal Fire, the fire was 20% contained as of Friday at 7 a.m.
The number of fires has dropped. According to a statement from Cal Fire, crews are utilizing the ideal weather conditions to continue mopping up hot spots and strengthening containment lines.
Despite the advancements, the agency stated that evacuation orders and warnings were still in force for communities in the vicinity.

As conditions permitted, many firefighting air tankers from across the state were reportedly conducting fire suppression operations.
22 engines, six water tenders, and six crews were among the 147 individuals assigned to the incident, according to officials.
There were no reports of structural damage or injuries.
Investigations were underway to determine the cause of the fire.
